Exclusions and specialist requirements
Matching very old or handmade bricks can require reclaimed or specially made bricks, which affects cost and lead time — we discuss the options at quotation. Structural cracks in masonry can indicate movement that needs engineering assessment first; our structural assessment service can advise. Scaffolding, where needed, is arranged and priced as part of the quotation.
Frequently asked questions
- Can you match my existing bricks?
- Usually very closely — London stocks a wide range of matching bricks, and reclaimed options exist for period properties. We will show you samples before work starts.
- What mortar should be used on a Victorian house?
- Period properties were built with lime mortar, which lets the wall breathe. Repointing in hard cement mortar can damage soft old bricks — we use the appropriate mortar for the building.
- Are cracks in my brickwork serious?
- Some are cosmetic; some indicate movement. If you are concerned, our structural assessment service can advise before any repair is specified.
